Fall 2008

August 20	“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) This one day training is required for ALL new field instructors and current field instructors renewing their three-year certificate.
August 27	Welcome Reception 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, University Union, Redwood Room (1st floor) For new incoming MSW students, faculty and staff.
September 1	Labor Day Campus closed; No classes or field.
September 2	First Day of Instruction, Fall Semester
*September 3	Mandatory Undergraduate Field Orientation, Part B 2:00 – 4:00 pm, University Union, Suite TBA For undergraduate students beginning their field placements, Fall 2008. Students must be enrolled in corresponding sections of SWRK 140B & SWRK 195A.
September 4	Masters Writing Workshop 9:00 am – Noon, University Union, Redwood Room (1st floor) Mandatory for new incoming MSW students.
September 4	Masters Field & Academic Orientation, Part B 1:30 – 4:30 pm, University Union, Redwood Room (1st floor) Mandatory for new incoming MSW students.
September 8	First Day of Field
September 8 – 12	First Week of Field Students must deliver and discuss Field Syllabus and Learning Agreement to field instructor no later than September 26, 2008.
October 3	“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, University Union, Capital Room (3rd floor) This one day training is required for ALL new field instructors and current field instructors renewing their three-year certificate.
October 6	Learning Agreements Due To be completed and turned in to student’s field liaison. DO NOT TURN IN TO THE SOCIAL WORK OFFICE OR FIELD BOX.
October 13	Columbus Day Campus open; Classes held.
November 3	Mid-Semester Field Placement Progress Reports Due Field instructors should mail to field liaison.
November 11	Veteran’s Day Campus closed; No classes or field.
*November 14	Advanced Field Instructor Training 8:00 am – 12:00, University Union, Suite TBA This is a half day refresher for experienced Field Instructors who have attended the “Introduction to Field Instruction”.
November 27 – 28	Thanksgiving Recess Campus closed; No classes or field.
December 8 – 12	Last Week of Field Students return to field week of January 2, 2009.
December 12	Field Evaluations Due – Last Day of Field Signed, original Field Evaluation to be turned in to student’s field liaison. DO NOT TURN IN TO SOCIAL WORK OFFICE OR FIELD BOX. Failure to submit complete Field Evaluation by this due date may result in student receiving an “Incomplete” in SWRK 195A for the semester.
December 13 – 19	Final Examinations – No Field
December 19 – 20	Winter Commencement Ceremonies 8:30 am, Arco Arena. To sign up visit: www.hhs.csus.edu/commencement.htm.
December 24 – Jan 2	Winter Break Students are not in field. Campus closed from December 24, 2008 through January 2, 2009.

Spring 2009

January 1	New Year’s Day Campus closed; No classes or field.
January 5 – 9	First Week of Field Students begin second semester of field.
January 2	Fall Semester Grades Due
January 16	“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, University Union, California Suite (3rd floor) This one day training is required for ALL new field instructors and current field instructors renewing their three-year certificate.
January 19	Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Campus closed; No classes or field.
January 26	First Day of Instruction, Spring 2009
February 4	Mandatory Undergraduate Field Orientation 5:30 – 7:30 pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) Note: Students planning to enter Field in Fall 2008 must attend one of these orientations.
February 5	Mandatory Undergraduate Field Orientation 9:00 – 11:00 am, University Union, Forest Suite (1st floor) *Note:* Students planning to enter Field in Fall 2008 must attend one of these orientations.
*February 6	Mandatory MSW I Student Convocation 1:00 – 4:00 pm, University Union, Suite TBA
February 9	Lincoln’s Birthday Campus open; Classes held. Holiday observed 12/30/09.
February 16	Washington’s Birthday Campus open; Classes held. Holiday observed 12/31/09.
February 26	Mandatory MSW II Student Thesis Convocation 10:00 am – Noon, University Union, Forest Suite (2nd floor)
February 27	Field Faire 9:00 am – Noon, University Union, Ballroom (1st floor)Undergraduate and first year graduate field placement opportunities. Please dress in business attire.
March 6	MSW II Field Applications Due For entry into field Fall of 2009 – place in wooden “Field Box”, MRP 4010
March 8	NASW Lobby Days - Registration Check-In & Exhibits Sponsored by NASW at the Sacramento Radisson for Undergraduate and Graduate students. For registration and additional information please visit: http://www.naswca.org/
March 9	NASW Lobby Days - Appointments With Legislators Sponsored by NASW at the Sacramento Radisson for Undergraduate and Graduate students. Students will be excused from field this day. For registration and additional information please visit: http://www.naswca.org/

March 13	Field Interview Prep-Workshop 1:30 – 3:00 pm, University Union, Summit Room (3rd floor). Email the Field Program Office, tillmans@csus.edu, with your name to register.
March 31	Cesar Chavez Day Campus closed; No classes or field.
March 30 – April 5	Spring Recess Students are NOT in Field.
May 6	Graduate Student Thesis Symposium 5 – 8 pm, University Union, Forest Suite (2nd floor)
May 11 – 15	Last Week of Field Instruction

Please be sure to clear out your mail folders by Friday, May 31, 2009. All materials left in the folders will be destroyed during the summer break.
