“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training
8:30 am – 4:00 pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor)
This one day training is required for ALL new field instructors and current field instructors renewing their three-year certificate.

Welcome Reception
3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, University Union, Redwood Room (1st floor)
For new incoming MSW students, faculty and staff.

September 1

Labor Day
Campus closed; No classes or field.

September 2

First Day of Instruction, Fall Semester

Mandatory Undergraduate Field Orientation, Part B
2:00 – 4:00 pm, University Union, Suite TBA
For undergraduate students beginning their field placements, Fall 2008.  Students must be enrolled in corresponding sections of SWRK 140B & SWRK 195A.

September 4

Masters Writing Workshop
9:00 am – Noon, University Union, Redwood Room (1st floor)
Mandatory for new incoming MSW students.

September 4

Masters Field & Academic Orientation, Part B
1:30 – 4:30 pm, University Union, Redwood Room (1st floor)
Mandatory for new incoming MSW students.

First Day of Field

September 8 – 12

First Week of Field
Students must deliver and discuss Field Syllabus and Learning Agreement to field instructor no later than September 26, 2008. 

October 3

“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training

This one day training is required for ALL new field instructors and current field instructors renewing their three-year certificate.

October 6

Learning Agreements Due
To be completed and turned in to student’s field liaison.  DO NOT TURN IN TO THE SOCIAL WORK OFFICE OR FIELD BOX.

October 13

Columbus Day
Campus open; Classes held.

November 3

Mid-Semester Field Placement Progress Reports Due
Field instructors should mail to field liaison.

November 11

Veteran’s Day
Campus closed; No classes or field.

*November 14

Advanced Field Instructor Training
8:00 am – 12:00, University Union, Suite TBA
This is a half day refresher for experienced Field Instructors who have attended the “Introduction to Field Instruction”.

November 27 – 28

Thanksgiving Recess
Campus closed; No classes or field.

December 8 – 12

Last Week of Field
Students return to field week of January 2, 2009.

Field Evaluations Due – Last Day of Field
Signed, original Field Evaluation to be turned in to student’s field liaison.  DO NOT TURN IN TO SOCIAL WORK OFFICE OR FIELD BOX.  Failure to submit complete Field Evaluation by this due date may result in student receiving an “Incomplete” in SWRK 195A for the semester. 

December 13 – 19

Final Examinations – No Field
