J.R. Needy Foundation Scholarship

  • Award Amount: $1000
  • Minimum GPA: Overall GPA of 2.6 in completed unitsa nd an average of 3.0 GPA in RPTA curriculum units
  • Class Level: Junior or above as of the Fall Semester
  • Financial Need: No
  • Enrollment:Seniors must demonstrate continuing enrollment in the Fall semester. Graduate students must have classified status and demonstrate continuing enrollment
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Applicant should have knowledge of the Park and Recreation field in general and show the aptitude necessary for advancment and leadership in the profession.
    • Applicant should have participated in professional organizations, community groups and/or CSU-Sacramento extracurricular activities.
    • Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from persons other than students and relatives, who have first-hand knowledge of their abilities, accomplishments and potential.
    • A copy of unofficial university transcripts.
    • A completed application form including a resume and response to an essay question.
    • Finalists must participate in an oral interview.

Judy M. Quattrin Community Recreation Student Scholarship

  • Award Amount: $500
  • Minimum GPA: 3.5
  • Class Level: Junior or Senior
  • Enrollment: Full-Time, continuing
  • Additional Requirements:
    • A typed, professional copy of your resume.
    • A copy of your unofficial transcripts.
    • A list of any clubs or service organizations to which you belong.
    • A typed summary of examples of your leadership abilities and responsibilities in planning and implementing innovating recreation programming in community setting.
    • Letters of Recommendation: One letter from a RPTA faculty member; one from a Park, Recreation or Leisure Services professional.
    • Successful candidates will have demonstrated oustanding leaderships through contributions to Sacramento State including but not limited to RPMA, Associated Students, Intercollegiate Athletics, and Student Activities Office. Been responsible for the planning and delivery of innovative recreation programming in the community setting in order to improve human services.
