Program Options
- The Title IV-E Program is designed for people interested in working in Public Child Welfare.
- You cannot receive both the stipend and financial aid in the same academic year.
- Applicant funding will probably not begin until late October. Please make arrangements for financial obligations for the Fall semester, excluding the stipend / reimbursements.
- Department of Social Services County Employees: Your agency director or designee must complete and sign the enclosed Letter of Support.
- A two year program.
- Applicant must be admitted to the MSW Full-time program beginning Fall 2006.
- If you are employed by a California County Child Welfare Agency, you must negotiate a two-year leave of absence and submit the enclosed Agency Letter of Support from your agency Director/Program Manager.
- A stipend of $18,500 each academic year, up to two years.

- A three year program.
- Applicants must be admitted to the three year MSW program beginning Fall 2006.
- Applicants must currently be employed by a California County Child Welfare Agency or California Department of Social Services and provide the enclosed AgencyLetter of Support from the agency Director/Program Manager.
- Employment payback must be with the sponsoring county unless there is no qualifying MSW position being offered upon graduation and the agency has agreed to release the applicant.
- Recipient is reimbursed based on the cost of tuition, books, and travel (to and from the University).
- Recipient is reimbursed based on cost incurred on approved expenses.
THREE YEAR INTENSIVE WEEKEND PROGRAM STARTING FALL 2007
The 3 year intensive weekend program will start in fall 2007 and will be based on a cohort model. Once students are admitted for fall 2007 no additional students will be added to the cohort over the next 3 years. Classes will be held on the Sacramento State campus
The application process is the same as applying for other MSW program offerings. Interested applicants must apply to the university for graduate studies and to the division of Social Work (application deadline for fall 2007 is February 9, 2007) for the social work program.
Applicants interetsed in recieving Title IV-E support must complete a Title IV-E application. This application will be available March 1, 2007 and the deadline for this application is May 11, 2007. Applicants must indicate program interest and be prepared to attend an interview during the week of June 4-8, 2007.
Admission creteria is same as the information above for the three (3) year program
ADVANCED PLACEMENT and 2nd YEAR STUDENTS
(A limited number of slots)
- A one year program
- Student must file an application for the Title IV-E Stipend.
- Student must attend an interview (date and time determined by the program).
- Student must have completed an internship in a Public Child Welfare placement, Indian Reservation or Rancheria, or in an agency serving Title IV-E population (foster children).
- Students accepted for the Title IV-E program are required to meet all of the IV-E requirements including:
a. Once a month seminars
b. Electives 213 & 258
c. Public Child Welfare placements in the 2 nd year -
(regardless of 1 st year placement) Public Child Welfare placements include: CPS, State Social Services, Indian Reservations and/or Rancheria offering Child Welfare Services.
