SPHP 219 COUNSELING TECHNIQUES FOR SPEECH PATHOLOGISTS AND AUDIOLOGISTS

 

The class emphasizes the development of specific, practical strategies for interviewing and counseling clients with communication disorders and their families. Specific skills, such as effective listening, dealing constructively with client and family emotions, and others are taught. There is also discussion on working with families and leading support groups. Students learn to deal effectively with the affective aspect of communication disorders to help clients receive the maximum benefit from assessment and intervention.
