Our Mission, briefly, is two-fold:
To provide an outstanding educational experience
with connected liberal arts and professional components
for every student majoring in Health and Human Services.

To produce graduates who are well prepared for current and future
leadership roles in their discipline and community.
The Mission of the College of Health & Human Services is to provide high quality education and well-prepared graduates who demonstrate proficiency, critical thought, leadership ability, creativity, and commitment, in current and future professional practice. Located in the Capital Region, the College prepares students for roles in society as productive citizens, fully committed to enriching the lives of others, promoting mutual respect for diverse populations, and lifelong learning.

University Policy: Last Week of Instruction
LAST WEEK OF INSTRUCTION
Final exams, including major section exams offered in lieu of a final exam, may not be scheduled during the last week of classes. However, quizzes, lab exams, and other academic assignments may be scheduled for the last week of classes, provided they are specified on the course syllabus. No unscheduled (i.e., not included in the course syllabus) or additional requirements may be imposed on students during the last week of classes. Any exceptions that necessitate giving a final prior to final exam week must be stated on the course syllabus and shall require prior approval of the dean.

Statement on Faculty Responsibilities and Professional Ethics
The faculty of CSUS recognize that education is a public service and a public trust. In this document we affirm our responsibilities to the public, to our students, and to our colleagues. The first section delineates our professional responsibilities; the second section specifies the aspects of these responsibilities that may call professional ethics into question. The "1987 American Association of University Professors Statement on Professional Ethics" was endorsed by the Academic Senate in February 1990 (AS 90-9) and is included as an addendum.
Academic Honesty: Policy & Procedures
The principles of truth and honesty are recognized as fundamental to a community of scholars and teachers. California State University, Sacramento (hereafter referred to as Sacramento State) expects that both faculty and students will honor these principles, and in so doing, will protect the integrity of academic work and student grades. Sacramento State is a publicly-assisted institution legislatively empowered to certify competence and accomplishment in general and discrete categories of knowledge. The President and faculty of Sacramento State are therefore obligated not only to the world at large but also to California to guarantee that substantive knowledge is actually acquired and the ability to acquire it is actually demonstrated by those to whom they assign grades and whom they recommend for degrees. Academic dishonesty defrauds all those who depend upon the integrity of the University, its courses and its degrees. This fraud is accomplished to the extent that faculty, students or campus employees knowingly or unwittingly allow academic dishonesty to work its deception.

Family Medical Leave Act of 1993
FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) requires covered employers to provide up to 12 weeks of upaid, job protected leave to "eligible" employees for certain family and medical reasons. CSUS employees are eligible if they have worked for at least one academic year or 12 months proceeding leave.
California State University, Sacramento provides family care and medical leave to eligible employees in accordance with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) and the California Family Rights Act of 1993 (CFRA). Procurement Critical Assessment Expense Justification
The University's Procurement & Contract Services provides the campus community with cost efficient and effective services for all acquisitions and contracting needs. To accomplish this, procedures have been established which provide for a smooth flow of incoming requisitions through the procurement cycle and delivery of supplies or services to the campus. The staff attempts to provide these services in a timely and courteous manner at all times.

Field Trips
Field Trips can be valuable learning experiences for many courses. However, they can also present certain risks and hazards, some of which may be unacceptable. Faculty members who are planning to conduct field trips should perform their own risk analysis and at the same time determine if the field trip lends itself toward achieving the learning objectives of the course. If the field trip isn't essential toward achieving the learning objectives of the course, then perhaps the field trip isn't necessary to undertake. Field trips must be part of the course requirements.

Driving on University Business
Everyone who drives on University Business, whether operating a University, State, or privately owned vehicle, or if you are driving or a rental vehicle on University business. State-owned vehicle includes all motorized or self-propelled equipment including lawn-mowers, golf-carts, etc.
Commute Choices
There are lots of ways to "Rideshare" to Sacramento State. Ridesharing refers to any method of commuting other than solo driving. You've got CHOICES for commuting to campus. If you must drive, don't drive alone! We'd like to offer you a few other CHOICES: biking, walking, carpooling, vanpooling, transit. Sac State Commute CHOICES is here to help.
Hornet Shuttle
The Hornet Express Shuttle is your free campus transit system. Funding is provided through parking fines and forfeitures revenue collected from campus parking violators.
Since the Hornet Express Shuttle system is operated for Sacramento State student, faculty and staff usage, a valid Sacramento State OneCard is required to ride to and from campus. Please show your OneCard to the driver before boarding the bus.
The Hornet Express Shuttle makes every effort to adhere to timetables listed in the schedule, and our on-time record is excellent. However, traffic, road, weather, and other unforeseen circumstances may result in buses not operating on the schedule as planned. Consequently, the Hornet Express Shuttle is not responsible for difficulties which may result from delays or missed connections.
The Hornet Express Shuttle operates Monday - Friday during the Fall and Spring semesters when classes are in session, including finals week - The Shuttle Bus operation is closed during summer, intersessions, breaks or closures.

Parking
FACULTY/STAFF PARKING PERMIT
Faculty/staff parking permits and emeritus parking permits are valid in faculty/staff as well as student spaces, unless otherwise posted. Faculty/Staff and emeritus parking permits are not valid at anytime in Parking Structure II. Most faculty and staff may also pay for their parking permits on a monthly basis via payroll deduction. Payroll deducted parking permits are available at the Student Financial Services Center in Lassen Hall. Faculty/staff parking permits must be displayed in the following ways only: Hangtag parking permits must be displayed from the rear view mirror. Adhesive parking permits must be adhered to the driver's side of the windshield. Place the parking permit just above the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) so that parking enforcement can clearly see your VIN. Please do not impede your vision through the windshield.LOST, STOLEN, AND COUNTERFEIT PARKING PERMITS
If a parking permit is lost or stolen, please report the loss to University Transportation & Parking Services (UTAPS). UTAPS will record the parking permit as lost or stolen and will enforce the parking permit as such. UTAPS does not replace lost or stolen parking permits. Upon reporting a lost or stolen parking permit, UTAPS may authorize the purchase of a replacement parking permit. It is a violation to display a lost, stolen, or counterfeit parking permit and may result in a parking citation being issued and/or other California State University, Sacramento correction action.EMERGENCY PARKING PERMIT
In the event of an unscheduled event, contact the UTAPS office (278-7275) for instruction on how to obtain a permit, or just ask your department secretary for assistance.
