Grade Calculation

  Overview of Grading Policies

Grading Breakdown

  1. There are a total of 14 pre-quizzes, you must take 8 of them. If you take more than the required 8,  you will have extra points automatically added to your grade. These surplus points adjust for missed quizzes, technical problems and late adds.
  2. There are a total of 14 post- quizzes, you must take 10 of them.  If you take more than the required 10,  you will have extra points automatically added to your grade. These surplus points adjust for missed quizzes, technical problems and late adds.
  3. Each test may be taken twice.  The highest of the 2 scores will be used for calculating the course grade.  All  quizzes and the final exam are open book, open internet.  Quizzes and papers may be done alone or with classmates.
  4. The final exam is a proctored, on-campus exam supervised by the course faculty. Attendance is required. If you do not show up for the final, you will be given 0 points for the final.  Make-up final exams are only allowed under exceptional circumstances and must be scheduled in the testing center. Incompletes require a signed contract between student and instructor.
  5. Mathematical calculation of your grade: add up all your points. Consult table below for letter grade. You could potentially earn more than 1000 points if you took all of the quizzes (so there are extra credit points built in for those of you who do the extra work). NOTE: this course provides letter grades, (A, B etc). It is NOT a Cr/NCr course.
