Fall 2009

Tuesday, July 21	“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training 8:30am – 4:00pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) This one day training is required for all new field instructors.
Friday, July 31	“Advanced Field Instructor” Training 8:30am – 12:30pm, University Union, Capital Rm (3rd floor) This is a half day refresher for the experienced field instructor.
Tuesday, August 18	“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training 8:30am – 4:00pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) This one day training is required for all new field instructors.
Wednesday, August 26	Welcome Reception 3:00 – 6:00pm, University Union, Ballroom II (1st floor) For new incoming MSW students, faculty and staff.
Monday, August 31	First Day of Instruction, Fall Semester
Wednesday, September 2	Mandatory Undergraduate Field Orientation, Part B 2:00 – 4:00pm, University Union, Redwood Room, 1st Floor For undergraduate students beginning their field placements, Fall 2009. Students must be enrolled in corresponding sections of SWRK 140B & SWRK 195A.
Thursday, September 3	Masters Writing Workshop 9:00am – Noon, University Union, Hind Auditorium (1st floor) Mandatory for new, incoming MSW students.
Thursday, September 3	Masters Field & Academic Orientation, Part B 1:00 – 4:00 pm, University Union, Hind Auditorium (1st floor) Mandatory for new, incoming MSW students.
Monday, September 7	Labor Day Campus closed, no classes or field.
Tuesday, September 8	First Day of Field – Fall Semester
September 8 – 11	First Week of Field Students must deliver and discuss Field Syllabus and Learning Agreement to field instructor no later than September 25, 2009.
Friday, September 25	“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training 8:30am – 4:00pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) This one day training is required for all new field instructors.
Monday, October 5	Learning Agreements Due To be completed and turned in to student’s faculty field liaison. DO NOT TURN IN TO THE SOCIAL WORK OFFICE OR SW FIELD BOX.
Monday, October 12	Columbus Day Campus open, classes held.
Friday, October 16	Campus Furlough Day Campus closed, no classes or field.
Wednesday, October 28	Social Work Education and the Field: Joining Forces in Hard Times Noon - 4pm, University Union, Ballroom II (1st floor) Convocation for Field Instructors & Social Work Faculty Members. Field Instructors RSVP ASAP to: swfield@csus.edu
Monday, November 2	Mid-Semester Field Placement Progress Reports Due Field instructors should mail to faculty field liaison.
Wednesday, November 11	Veteran’s Day Campus closed, no classes or field.
November 26 – 27	Thanksgiving Recess Campus closed, no classes or field.
December 7 – 11	Last Week of Field Students return to field January 4, 2010.
Friday, December 11	Field Evaluations Due – Last Day of Field Signed, original Field Evaluation to be turned in to student’s field liaison. DO NOT TURN IN TO SOCIAL WORK OFFICE OR FIELD BOX. Failure to submit a complete Field Evaluation by this date may result in student receiving an “Incomplete” in SWRK 195A for the semester.
December 14 – 18	Final Examinations – No Field
December 18 – 19	Winter Commencement Ceremonies 8:30am, Saturday, Arco Arena. To sign up visit: www.hhs.csus.edu/commencement.htm
December 21 – Jan 1	Winter Break Students are not in field. Campus closed December 23, and 24 for campus furlough and December 25, 2009, through January 1, 2010.

Spring 2010

Friday, January 1	New Year’s Day Campus closed, no classes or field.
Monday, January 4	Fall Semester Grades Due
Monday, January 4	First Day of Field – Spring Semester
January 4 – 8	First Week of Field Students begin second semester of field.
Friday, January 22	“Introduction to Field Instruction” Training 8:30am – 4:00pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) This one day training is required for all new field instructors.
Monday, January 18	Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Campus closed, no classes or field.
Monday, January 25	First Day of Instruction, Spring 2010
Wednesday, February 3	Mandatory Undergraduate Field Orientation, Part A 5:30 – 7:30pm, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) Students planning to enter Field in Fall 2010, must attend one of these orientations.
Thursday, February 4	Mandatory Undergraduate Field Orientation, Part A 9:00 – 11:00am, University Union, Foothill Suite (3rd floor) Students planning to enter Field in Fall 2010, must attend one of these orientations.
Friday, February 5	Mandatory MSW I Student Convocation 1:00 – 4:00pm, University Union, Hind Auditorium (1st floor) This convocation is mandatory for all current first-year master students.
Monday, February 8	Lincoln’s Birthday Campus open, classes held. Holiday observed 12/30/10.
Monday, February 15	Campus Furlough Day Campus closed, no classes or field.
Thursday, February 18	“Advanced Field Instructor” Training 8:30am – 12:30pm, University Union, Capital Rm (3rd floor) This is a half day refresher for the experienced field instructor.
Thursday, February 25	MSW II Student Thesis Convocation 10:00 am – Noon, University Union, Forest Suite (2nd floor) Thesis project formatting and deadlines for current second-year master students.
Wednesday, March 3	Field Faire 1:00pm – 4:00pm, University Union, Ballroom (1st floor) Undergraduate and first year graduate field placement opportunities. Please dress in business attire.
Friday, March 5	MSW II Field Applications Due For entry into field Fall of 2010 – place in wooden “Field Box”, MRP 4010
Friday, March 12	Undergraduate Field Applications Due For entry into field Fall of 2010 – place in wooden “Field Box”, MRP 4010
Friday, March 26	Field Interview Prep-Workshop 1:30 – 3:00pm, University Union, Delta Suite (3rd floor) Email the Field Program office, tillmans@csus.edu, with your name to register.
Wednesday, March 31	Cesar Chavez Day Campus closed, no classes or field.
March 29 – April 4	Spring Recess Students are not in Field.
