Therapeutic Recreation

• Services are provided by trained professionals, certified at both the State and National levels.

• Educational programs are offered through accredited universities such as the California State University, Sacramento - (see RLS Therapeutic Recreation).

• Therapeutic Recreation is an important contributor to the independence of individuals with disabilities and successful community reintegration.

• Individual needs, interests, and abilities play a major role in Therapeutic Recreation Programming.

• The California Board of Recreation and Park Certification and/or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification offer certification at both the professional and the paraprofessional levels.
