Born in Brooklyn, NY, Sal received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation from Marshall University and his Master of 
Science in Leisure Services and Studies from Florida
State University. He also received a Certificate in Gerontology from Florida State.  
Sal has been a lecturer at Sacramento State University of California for two years in the Department of  Recreation & Leisure Studies, 
and an adjunct instructor for the American River College Gerontology Department for five years.

Sal retired from his position as Director of the Cordova Senior Center, after fifteen years, to devote his time to teaching.  Some of his accomplishments in this time have been, but not limited to the following:  co-author and author of Beyond Bingo: Innovative Programs 
for the New Senior
, and Beyond Bingo 2: More Innovative Program for the New Senior.  In addition, Sal has written numerous articles 
for scholarly and business publications and has been a guest speaker at local, state and national conferences.

In his leisure time, Sal likes to barbecue, and write for pleasure.  One of his most satisfying leisure accomplishments was to have an 
article he had written on baseball accepted by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
