The McGinty Cup Tournament was started in 1999 by a group of students who wanted to

Help the program raise funds for expenses not covered by normal University budgeting processes,

And set up a social venue for alumni to reconnect with the program, students, and faculty.

The funds raised go into a CSU Foundation Trust Account that is controlled by the department.  This money has been used for such things as purchasing licensure materials for students, moneys to assist needy students in emergencies, and supplemental teaching materials and workshops for faculty to assist in the classroom.
