California
State University, Sacramento Division of Nursing is currently an impacted
program and admission to the CSUS baccalaureate Nursing program is a two
step process.
- The first step is
admission to the University as a pre-nursing major.
- The second step is
admission to the Clinical Nursing program via the Supplemental Application
process.
Prospective
first-time freshmen, and transfer students who will not complete certain Clinical
Nursing prerequisites by the time they enroll, may apply for University admission
at any time up to the regular university application deadline. They
will be considered pre-nursing majors until they go through the Supplemental
Application process and earn one of the 55 available slots in the Clinical
Nursing program.
Continuing
CSUS students, transfer students, and second baccalaureate degree applicants
are given equal consideration in the selection process.
The clinical
portion of the nursing program is open only to those who can satisfy the California
residence requirement.
Under
the NEW criteria applicants are ready to apply via the Supplemental Application
process the semester they are finishing their last four prerequisite courses,
two science courses and two non-science courses. For example if it is
the Spring 2004 semester and a student is currently enrolled in Microbiology,
Physiology, English 1A and Math he/she could fill out the Supplemental Application
which he/she received in January. The Supplemental Application should be returned
no later than February 15th and would be processed by the Division of Nursing.
By the middle of April the acceptance, alternate and denial letters would
be mailed out for the Fall 2004 semester. Grades from the Spring 2004 semester
would not be used in the GPA calculation for the Fall 2004 Supplemental
Application.
