HEALTH ASSESSMENT
For
Advanced Nursing Practice
Overview
NURS 296 was a
new course offered for the first time in
Spring 1999. It has been renamed N232B. The course is
designed for graduate nursing students. Undergraduates
may enroll if space is available. Permission of the
instructor of Record is required.
Advanced
concepts and skills in health and physical assessment
essential to the clinical decision making and caring
process for the advanced practice nurse. The emphasis is
on eliciting an accurate and thorough history,
considering the client's multiple dimensions. Competent
physical examination skills and documentation are further
developed to provide a database for nursing diagnoses and
clinical judgements in advanced nursing practice.
Availability of an otoscope and stethoscope required.
Individual practice outside of class is required.
