Dr. O’Hanlon
is a
recent graduate from the University of Kansas (1999) where she was a National
Institute of Aging research trainee in communication and aging. Dr. O’Hanlon
has completed research in a variety of communication and aging areas including
age differences in complex speech skills (Wilcox, Morris & O’Hanlon, 2001), age
differences in implicit and explicit memory (O’Hanlon, Wilcox & Kemper, 2001), neuropsychology and aphasia treatment (O'Hanlon & Jackson, 2000), and age
differences in word retrieval (O’Hanlon, 1999; O'Hanlon, Kemper & Wilcox, in
preparation). She has also recently co-authored a book chapter on semantic
processes in aging (Kemper & O’Hanlon, 2001).
Along with her research
experience, Dr. O’Hanlon has practiced for the past ten years as a
speech-language pathologist in a variety of adult clinical settings. During
this time she has worked with older adults with varying degrees of communication
breakdown. Dr. O'Hanlon is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Speech Pathology and Audiology at California State University, Sacramento and
teaches courses in Phonetics, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Motor Speech and
Swallowing Disorders and Technology for Speech Pathology and Audiology.
